Default Whirling Axe {E}

I was looking at the skills for the warrior to see what i can add into my assasin build and came across this elite skill. Can anyone tell me why this is an elite skill? I really cannot see why it would be listed as one.

Here is the description:
Whirling Axe (Factions) Elite Skill
If Whirling Axe hits, you strike for +5-20 damage. If it is blocked Whirling Axe is disabled for 15 seconds.

Thank you

It only costs 2 strikes to charge up. Also, the 15 sec lockout is only triggered on block, not miss or evade.

Not seen any real play on my axe war's skill bar so far, but I think those above are the reasons for the golden border.

It looks like better DPS than Cleave without running numbers, so there are definately grounds for being elite.

A better question is 'why is it called 'whirling axe'?', in my opinion 'whirling axe' should hit more than one target...

At 12 axe Cleave hits for +26. (cost 4 adrenalin)
At 12 axe Whirling hits for +18. (cost 2 adrenalin)

so using the same amount of adrenalin ur getting +36 from whirling and +26 from cleave

Lets look at 16 Axe Mastery instead, which is more common than 12. Cleave does 31, Whirling does 21.

If you are spamming ONLY the skills in question, cleave hits every 5th hit and whirling hits every 3rd. (you don't get adrenaline for the skill which you just used)

Cleave will hit 3 times in 15 strikes and Whirling will hit 5 times.
Cleave will do +93 damage while Whirling will do +105, a difference of 12.

Is that 12 really worth it? In PvP absolutly not - there are a lot of blocking skills going around. In PvE I don't know - I guess it's one of those "know your enemies" situations.

BTW Eviserate > cleave or whirling axe. It is a reason in itself for a factions only account to get prophecies.

Hey idunno if its worth it or not but with whirling axe..tiger's stance...and for great justice you can pretty much raise your axes damage for 6-26 to over
21-41+++
how?
for greater justice-tiger stance-whirling axe once-wait on more hit and then you can go with a constant +dmg combo for 8+ hits whirling-penetrating-whirling-executioners-whirling-furious axe-whirling-penetrating-whirling
seriously there is no extra hits in the combo inbetween each hit.
maybe someday ill do the math for this combo not right now
